Welcome

Here’s a brief background: I’ve just completed my masters in International Relations and have been selected for Army OCS. I intend to serve as a career military officer.

So while waiting for BCT and OCS, I’m going to blog.

The focus of this blog is the concept of 4th generation warfare as well as other topics in international relations and political science.

Netwar by John Arquilla and David Ronfeldt provides a introduction to 21st century warfare:

The information revolution is leading to the rise of network forms of organization, with unusual implications for how societies are organized and conflicts are conducted. “Netwar” is an emerging consequence. The term refers to societal conflict and crime, short of war, in which the antagonists are organized more as sprawling “leaderless” networks than as tight-knit hierarchies. Many terrorists, criminals, fundamentalists, and ethno-nationalists are developing netwar capabilities.

Technology amplifies the military capabilities of small social networks and allows them to catastrophically disrupt economies and civilian networks. However, it is possible to target and eliminate hostile networks. We can use many tools such as game theory, network theory, and systems analysis to understand the threat and counter it.

The motto of this blog is nil desperadum. Victory is possible.
